Florals & Still Lifes
Brilliant color, spirit, freshness; what’s not to love about flowers? And they have faces, too, so you know I’m all in. Then I discovered Apples, and still lifes took on entirely new meanings for me. Discovered, then further explored during two 30-day Facebook challenges, Apples taught me all sorts of things about myself.
Because I’m adding more texture using brush marks at the moment, my paper choices here are changing, with Saunders Waterford 260# Hot Press being a current favorite. Hahnemuehle’s Cezanne and Leonardo are top contenders, too, with Fabriano Artistico tagging along. I’m still using my Richeson Series 7000 Watermedia Brushes (Quiller Brushes), the Nos. 8 and 10 rounds and most often the 3/4”, 1 1/2” and 2” flats for their versatility and the looseness they encourage. They can pretty much do anything.
