You don’t see them anymore, those old men in their grey fedoras. Even in 1985 they were no longer common; his grey suit stood out like an emergency flare. He walked through the street fair’s crowd of middle-aged Baby Boomers (so intent on having fun and more fun), his back straight and his mind focused on what mattered.
The Great Depression, two world wars, the Holocaust, the Korean War, the Vietnam War...he’d seen them all; he carried the scars and the lessons right through the carefree crowd.
And no one saw him.
