Calla series No. 26

I know it’s not in fashion right now, but I have to say that God is at the heart of everything I paint. As it happened, I was working on "Send in the Clowns", and “Clowns” at the same time I was finishing up “In the Beginning”, one of my seashell series. Callas are self-portraiture for me, while seashells are about more cosmic, spiritual thoughts and feelings, so it was a natural step for the two paths to converge.
This painting is about our natural connection to God, the gift that that connection is, and how it affects us.
