Here's an ode to my years in Reno, NV. Apple No. 21 is up early. In time, as a matter of fact, to catch the Dawn Patrol that precedes all its annual balloon races. It's an experience not to be missed.
I've spent some happy times at the balloon races, half of them behind my camera, half of them demonstrating in front of the Wilbur May Museum to draw people indoors to the watercolor society's annual show. I didn't want just a colorful balloon race, though. No, it had to be the Dawn Patrol, when all of the balloons glow a rich orange against the black sky as they rise. There's just nothing like it.
